This vertical (graduate and undergraduate) design studio introduces and/or advances skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to operate in the space between architecture, culture and spirituality. In this occasion, we will investigate a most charged architectural topic: the conception and design of a family house/home. paying particular attention to natural, existential, and transcendetial concerns. This inquiry will be done under a premise of voluntary simplicity, cultural questioning, spiritual humility and the insights and experience of master architect Rick Joy -– the 2017 Walton Critic.
